Zambia to import maize

Posted on Wednesday 12 November 2008 - 07:55 Sam Banda Junior, AfricaNews reporter in Blantyre, Malawi Zambia has plans to import more maize next year to supplement its low yield. The country which apart from copper depends on agriculture for its economic development is reported to have experienced crop failure this year. The country is set to import about 100,000 tonnes of white maize to top up. The news comes in after the country elected a new president Rupiah Banda earlier this month after defeating Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata. A Reuters report quoted...
