By PAUL STONE The Palestine Herald It looks like newly-elected Anderson County Commissioner Kenneth Dickson will not assume office until the new year after all. Last week, the 44-year-old Dickson, the Republican nominee, comfortably defeated Democrat Rush Herrington by slightly more than a 3-to-2 margin to win the Anderson County precinct 3 commissioner's race. Dickson finished with 2,814 votes, compared to 1,740 for Herrington. Back in the spring, Dickson emerged from a three-way Republican Primary by defeating incumbent Ronny Smith by a 63-to-37 percent margin in the April runoff election. With slightly more than three months remaining in his term, Smith resigned his post in late September after pleading guilty to three misdemeanor counts of abuse of official capacity.
