Chamber rejects Greens' candidate for EU committee head

Sněmovna nepotvrdila Jacques ve funkci předsedkyně výboru pro EU Prague - The Czech Chamber of Deputies today did not confirm the candidacy of Katerina Jacques (junior government Green Party, SZ) for the post of chairwoman of the Chamber of Deputies committee for European Affairs to which she was elected by the committee members on November 6. Opposition deputies today did not take part in the vote. Even in a repeated vote, Jacques failed to gain the necessary number of votes. After the 2006 parliamentary elections, the post of the European committee head went to the Greens, under the coalition agreement, and was occupied by SZ deputy Ondrej Liska.
