COMMENTARY • By MARTIN FRANK • November 9, 2008 Ever since the World Series ended, I've been asked several times about what it was like to cover the Phillies' playoff run. At first, I didn't know how to respond. The days, the games, the travel, the stories all seemed to blend together. It was great, sure. But it was exhausting. Then it dawned on me last Sunday, after I finished running the New York City Marathon: Covering the Phillies in October was like running a marathon. Before the race/playoffs, you're filled with nervous energy, wondering if you, and the Phillies, can make it through the entire distance? Then everything starts. You look around at your surroundings -- the majestic skyline of lower Manhattan as you run on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, and the fans waving their rally towels as the Phillies take the field...
