Fallon youth participate in PP&K

By LARRY BARKER LVN Sports Editor OAKLAND — Four Fallon youngsters journeyed to the Bay Area on Sunday to participate in the Oakland Raiders Team Championship of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick competition. Morgan Dirickson, Chali Heckathorn, Hunter Holcombe and Nick Smith, earned their way to Oakland by winning a local competition here in Fallon and the northwestern Nevada championship in Gardnerville. None of the Fallon youngsters won his or her competition, though they gave it their best shot. Heckathorn had the highest finish, third place in the girls 14-15 year old category. Though she didn’t blame it for her not winning, Heckathorn said the wet, slippery conditions were a factor. “ I slipped at the last second and it didn’t go as far as I planned,” Heckathorn said of her punt. “I love football.
