'Project Runway' helps make sewing cool again By Maria Giordano • THE TENNESSEAN • November 7, 2008 BRENTWOOD — Chanel. Oscar de la Renta. Diane Von Furstenberg. They are icons in the fashion industry, and now the object of study in Williamson County Schools' textile and apparel classes, which are seeing a surge in attendance. Ravenwood High School is offering the class this school year for the first time at capacity. Independence High School also offers the class and Page and Centennial high schools will offer it next semester, said Jackie Baggett, a district wide career and technology coordinator. It's likely cable television shows such as Project Runway and cable TV networks like HGTV have spurred the interest, Baggett said.
