By John Lyon THE MORNING NEWS LITTLE ROCK -- Hospitals in Fort Smith, Booneville, Clarksville and Mena are participating in a program aimed at lowering Arkansas' rate of stroke-related deaths, now the worst in the nation. The Arkansas Saves program kicked off Saturday as a partnership between the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the state Department of Health, Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Booneville Community Hospital, Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville and Mena Regional Health System. "Saves" is an acronym for Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support.
