By Gary Stein ALISON BUTLER'S LETTER implying that if Barack Obama is a Muslim he would “have a polar religion that conflicts with the country’s laws,” is a slap in the face to every true American (“Reader says Obama Not Really Christian,” Oct. 4). On the contrary, Ms. Butler, if he were a Muslim, it would be exactly what the Framers of our Constitution were getting at. Is Obama a Muslim? I don’t know, but it isn’t likely. Is he a Christian? I don’t know, but more likely than not. Even if he is a Muslim, Ms. Butler’s objection that his religion is “polar” to the laws of this country because those laws “were founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs” is unwarranted because Islam, one of the three world religions that follow the Abrahamic tradition, recognizes Jesus, as well as Moses, as prophets.
