Lole wins Kenilworth's sodden half-marathon

Published Date: 10 October 2008 Matt Lole won the Kenilworth Half Marathon on Sunday in the worst conditions the event has seen. Heavy rain caused parts of the course to be flooded as it wound its way around the lanes to Haseley and Beausale and back to Castle Farm. On a morning when only committed runners ventured out it was admirable to see 480 finish in the difficult condit ions. Coventry Godiva Harriers man Lole crossed the line in 1hr 10min 5sec, followed in second place by Barry Reynolds (unattached) in 1.13.47. Last year’s winner Chris Penn (Birmingham University) was third in 1.15.06. The ladies’ race was won by Myshola Kirkham (Godiva Harriers) in 1.25.40, from Sally Baker (Rugby & Northampton) 1.26.34 and Louise Gibson (Leics Constabulary) 1.28.09.
