No decision yet on J&K elections

Special Correspondent NEW DELHI: The Election Commission is yet to take a decision on holding the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The Full Commission, comprising Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami and Commissioners Navin Chawla and S.Y. Qureshi, has been holding talks since Friday last. But no decision is forthcoming, Commission sources said. In Jammu and Kashmir, which is under President’s Rule, elections will have to be held by January 10, 2009. The sources said an announcement on holding the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram was likely to be made on Tuesday.
