America, the cradle of GM crops and food, is turning its back on the controversial technology, it has been claimed. There is widespread distrust of GM food and a desire for the labelling that would allow people to decide whether to eat it, according to a report from green campaigners. Research shows that 87per cent of Americans believe their food should carry a label showing whether it contains GM ingredients.
