Posted to the web 13 October 2008 Maputo The elected Municipal Assembly in the central Mozambican city of Beira is currently paralysed, and its members are blaming the city's mayor, Daviz Simango, reports Monday's issue of the Beira daily paper "Diario de Mocambique". Since mid-September, meetings of the Assembly have been postponed sine die, because the City Council, headed by Simango, has not provided the necessary documents. The deputy chairperson of the Assembly, Noe Marimbique, told the paper "to call a meeting we have to have the documents and distribute them among the members, but the City Council has delayed in delivering them, and so the meetings have been successively postponed.
