MSG dream ends for Scots boxer Willie Limond as Salita fight collapses

SCOTS boxing star Willie Limond's dream of fighting in Madison Square Garden has fallen through after Dmitriy Salita's camp demanded more concessions. The Glaswegian had agreed to step up to light-welterweight to fight the undefeated Ukrainian as support for Joe Calzaghe's contest with Roy Jones Jr on November 8. But Limond has reluctantly withdrawn after his opponent's management team demanded the option of putting the former Commonwealth lightweight champion on their next three shows if he won. Limond, who will now carry on with plans for a warm-up fight at Paisley's Lagoon Leisure Centre on Saturday night, felt he had no choice but to reject the chance to fight in New York.
