World Cup team-by-team guide

The World Cup starts in Australia on 25 October. The structure of the tournament looks complicated on first glance but has been designed to ensure an intense and exciting competition. The 10 teams are split into three groups. The big four of host nation Australia, New Zealand, England and Papua New Guinea are in Pool One and three teams will qualify for the semi-final stage. Pool Two comprises France, Fiji and Scotland and Pool Three consists of Tonga, Ireland and Samoa. The top two teams in Pool's Two and Three will play-off for the one remaining semi-final berth.
