Italian mafia film Gomorrah heads for Oscars - as cast members are arrested

Three actors in a gritty film portraying mafia life in Naples have been arrested over alleged links to the real-life mob. Gomorrah won a prize at Cannes and is Italy's entry for next year's Oscars The film Gomorrah, which is released this week in Britain, shows the dark side of Naples, portraying a city of rot and executions overseen by the ruthless Camorra crime organisation. Matteo Garrone, the director, cast a number of locals in Gomorrah to maximise realism, and the film has been hailed for its almost documentary-style quality. But on Saturday Bernardino Terracciano, 53, who plays a boss in the film, was arrested on suspicion of extorting protection money and having ties to the Casalesi clan, part of the Camorra mafia.
