October is for wine, too

A variety of Virginia activities include uncorking a bottle October marks the 20th anniversary of Virginia Wine Month. The designation was created in 1988 to support Virginia's young wine industry and is now a major player on the state's calendar. Virginia is now home to more than 130 wineries and is fifth in the nation in wine production. With grapes being harvested and the state's foliage turning colorful, this month makes it an ideal time to visit these cottage industries.
