State Department employee sought toughest assignments By Jeremy Gorner | Tribune reporter After the U.S. State Department offered Hampshire High School alum Jeff Patneau a position, he asked for the most difficult assignments, according to his family. He was eventually assigned to work in the American Embassy in San'a, Yemen, which was the target of a car-bomb explosion in mid-September that claimed the lives of nearly 20 people.
