Hampshire alum dies after car accident in Yemen

State Department employee sought toughest assignments By Jeremy Gorner | Tribune reporter After the U.S. State Department offered Hampshire High School alum Jeff Patneau a position, he asked for the most difficult assignments, according to his family. He was eventually assigned to work in the American Embassy in San'a, Yemen, which was the target of a car-bomb explosion in mid-September that claimed the lives of nearly 20 people. He was on his way back to the Yemeni capital from the United States when the bombing occurred, but witnessed the aftermath.
