Stephen Hendry pledges support to new snooker players' union

Oct 11 2008 By Neil Goulding STEPHEN HENDRY last night pledged his support to the new players' union. On the eve of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Glasgow, the seven-times world champion welcomed the formation of the Association of Snooker Professionals, the brainchild of fellow-Scot John Higgins and manager Pat Mooney. They have involved Manchester solicitors George Davies & Co, who act for the Professional Footballers Association and the Scottish PFA, and Hendry said: "It's a no-brainer. "I don't know why we have not had an association such as this sooner. "There's a lot of disgruntled players and there have been issues down the years with players not trusting one another, so hopefully this body will help us voice concerns about how the sport is run.
