Buy-to-let new-build flats see biggest falls

Simon Lambert, This is Money Buy-to-let landlords who bought new-build flats in England's major cities have been hardest hit by tumbling house prices, new research has shown. Areas in the Midlands and North that have seen major regeneration work take the form of city centre apartment blocks have seen developments build on former brownfield sites tumble in value – highlighting problems with the UK planning system. Major cities including Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool have seen large numbers of new apartment blocks built over the past five years, but also the biggest price falls according to the study by house price website Mouseprice.com.
