Dr. Collie Coleman

LUMBERTON — Collie Coleman, Ph.D., 65, of Lumberton, departed this Earth for his heavenly home Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, in Lumberton. Collie was born in Bailey to Connie and Lizzie Coleman, who preceded him in death. He was raised in Bailey and received his high school diploma at Spaulding High School in Spring Hope. Collie attended Shaw University in Raleigh from 1962 to 1966, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He earned a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Ohio State University in 1981. After graduating from Shaw University, Collie volunteered to serve in the U.S. Peace Corps in Nigeria, West Africa from 1966 to 1968.
