UNITED NATIONS: UN chief Ban Ki-moon will attend a summit of French-speaking nations in Quebec City, Canada, next week to highlight the strong ties between the United Nations and the francophone world, his press office said Friday. UN deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe told a press briefing that Ban was to address the opening ceremony of the 12th francophone summit, held October 17-19. Leaders of countries sharing the use of French are to discuss issues of global concern and those specific to the Francophonie.
