Published Date: 01 October 2008 THE alleged 'inside man' in the Northern Bank robbery asked a colleague if he could do the late shift on the day of the robbery, it has been revealed. Giving evidence at the Belfast Crown Court trial of 26-year-old Christopher Owen Ward, relationships manager Martin Thompson said despite Ward being told at a meeting that a colleague was unable to work the late shift, he could remember an "interchange between the two" where Ward asked him if he would swap. "I cannot remember the wording," said Mr Thompson, "but I intervened and said 'look Chris you can't use Martin (Hann] irrespective of whether he wants to or not."...
