Hipkiss and Flood sped through the Northampton defence in the last 10 minutes to seal Leicester's fourth win of the season. It was reward for the Tigers' commanding advantage in the final 40 minutes that had been based around a strong scrum. Despite the pressure, Leicester needed the late tries, plus a penalty goal from Flood, to keep ahead of a Northampton team reliant on a first-half try from Euan Murray and Stephen Myler, who kicked 14 points.
