Obama Rebuffs McCain Challenges He Calls for End to 'Personal Attacks'

Senator Barack Obama on Tuesday rejected Senator John McCain's challenges to his patriotism and competence and said it was time to end "personal attacks." He also told a veterans group in Florida that his Republican rival had long supported a "dictator" in Pakistan, and he urged a new approach there. Obama said that the resignation Monday of the embattled Pakistani president, Pervez Musharraf, confirmed the wisdom of his earlier calls "to move from a 'Musharraf policy' to a 'Pakistan policy'" built on more than "a relationship with one man."
