Coast Guard saves 4 in lake

Fathers, kids rescued after wave swamps boat near Two Rivers By RYAN HAGGERTY rhaggerty@journalsentinel.com The Coast Guard rescued four people — including an 8-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy — who spent about an hour in Lake Michigan off Manitowoc County after their boat sank Monday evening. The group had been on the water near Two Rivers for only a short time when a wave crashed over the bow and swamped the 15-foot boat about a half-mile from shore, said Coast Guard Seaman Amanda Walker, who participated in the rescue. The two men who were on board are neighbors and are in their 30s. One is the girl’s father, and the other is the boy’s father, Walker said. The four wound up in the water after the boat was swamped.
