Forget the worthy summer reading list. Dog-eared copies of Hard News, a rediscovered Nineties bonkbuster, are littering the sun decks of Tory MPs. Written by Tess Stimpson, an old friend of their leader from Oxford, it features a dashing, daring protagonist called David Cameron, who proves a hit with a female journalist embroiled in a cocaine scandal.
