Weekend traffic accidents kill 39

Driving under the influence, speeding and reckless driving led to the deaths of 39 people and 92 injuries over the weekend. In one incident, a minibus that was taking passengers home from a wedding in Malatya flipped over, killing nine people and injuring 10. The driver was found to be intoxicated. In another accident in the northern province of Amasya three people from the same family and two others died when a minivan collided with a truck. In the capital of Ankara, meanwhile, a car that was speeding hit a pole and split into two, killing four. In the Black Sea province of Sakarya, K. Ersen Arslan, a former goalkeeper for Sakaryaspor, was killed when he crashed his motorcycle.
