Bradford happy to join Rays

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SEATTLE -- Reliever Chad Bradford carried a Baltimore Orioles' bag along with his suitcase as he arrived Saturday in the first-place Tampa Bay Rays' locker room. But Bradford could hardly wait to join the Rays and put the Orioles behind him. "Being on a first-place team is unbelievable," Bradford said. "All of a sudden one day you're not and then one day you are. It kind of lights a fire under you and gets you ready to get out there." The Rays acquired Bradford from Baltimore on Thursday, bolstering their bullpen with a proven postseason pitcher. Bradford was home in Raymond, Miss., on an off day Thursday when he found out about the trade on a phone call from Orioles president Andy MacPhail.
