'Pittsburgh Kid' Spadafora squares up for comeback

By Kevin Gorman TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, August 10, 2008 ERIE -- Paul Spadafora is a living contradiction -- an undefeated former lightweight champion known as the Pittsburgh Kid who no longer calls McKees Rocks home and stands a month shy of his 33rd birthday without so much as a world ranking. Yet, with everyone else counting him out, Spadafora is preparing to return to boxing after being sidetracked by his volatile personal life. Only after making as many trips to a prison cell as he did the boxing ring since his 2005 conviction for aggravated assault after shooting his girlfriend did Spadafora realize the depths to which he was capable of sinking.
