Aug 9 2008 by Robin Turner, Western Mail FORMER West Indies and Glamorgan cricket star Sir Viv Richards joined a “peace march” yesterday on Antigua after the death of Welsh honeymooners Ben and Catherine Mullany. A national hero in Antigua, the ex-batsman told hundreds of marchers in the capital, St John’s, it was time for the tiny Caribbean nation to come together to find ways of solving its “crime situation”. And he called on everyone to become more vigilant. Addressing the sombre rally he said: “If we need to survive, we must be vigilant. These are hard times and we have got to move with these times.” The march was called to protest against the island’s rising violent crime problem – which has seen 19 murders last year in a population of just 88,000 – and to remember newlyweds Ben and Catherine Mullany, who were murdered...
