LATE RALLY: Mobile scored two runs in the top of the seventh and held off the Mudcats Friday night at Five County Stadium in front of 6,292 fans. Despite the loss, Carolina remained six games ahead of second-place Tennessee in the North division after Tennessee fell to Chattanooga 4-0. Tony Barnette (9-7) pitched six innings for the Baybears, allowing one run on four hits. Abe Woody pitched two innings for Mobile, allowing one run on two hits, and Jose Marte faced only three Carolina hitters in the ninth to earn his sixth save. Gaby Sanchez hit a solo homer in the fourth for the Mudcats. Mobile tied it at 1-1 in the sixth when Bryan Byrne singled to center to score Orlando Mercado.
