Ex-KGB agent to head Norilsk Nickel

By Catherine Belton in Moscow Norilsk Nickel's board of directors yesterday voted in a former KGB agent as its new chief executive, the second change of chief in just over a month, amid an escalating battle for control of the world's biggest nickel miner. The move comes in the face of opposition from Oleg Deripaska's UC Rusal, which holds a 25 per cent stake in Norilsk and is locked in a battle for control of the company with Vladimir Potanin, the Russian billionaire who is its biggest shareholder.
