UN says over 60,000 were displaced in July as fighting intensifies The UN refugee agency has warned that emergency aid stocks for thousands of Sri Lankans displaced by the fighting in the north are running dangerously low. A UNHCR spokesman said efforts to replenish the stocks were hindered by strict restrictions on the transport of goods into the region. The agency estimates that more than sixty-thousand people were displaced in July alone as a result heavy fighting between government troops and Tamil Tiger rebels.
