Jeremy Clarkson has struck a commercial deal with the BBC that could see him make millions more from Top Gear. By Stephen Adams, Arts Correspondent With Clarkson allegedly threatening to quit unless he was given a bigger financial incentive to stay, BBC Worldwide agreed to enter a partnership with him and the executive producer of the show, Andy Wilman. The BBC has been hamstrung in awarding multi-million pound contracts to its biggest stars since a reported £18 million deal to keep the presenter Jonathan Ross was criticised two years ago. However, this profit-related arrangement appears to have sidestepped the problem. It is between the corporation’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide and Bedder 6, Clarkson and Wilman’s company.
