Mounties arrest Mafia boss wanted in Italy

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested an alleged Mafia boss on Italy's most-wanted list near Toronto, the force announced Friday. At a news conference, RCMP Sgt. Marc LaPorte said Giuseppe Coluccio, 41, was arrested Thursday in Markham, north of Toronto, the National Post reported. This guy is a big deal, LaPorte said. He is on (Italy's) most-wanted list. He came into Canada under an assumed identity, likely using fake documents. Italian officials said Coluccio fled Italy three years ago to avoid serving prison time on drug, extortion and organized crime association charges. It's alleged he controlled maritime traffic along a 45-mile stretch of the Calabrian coast.
