Looking at the latest bits and pieces of news dribbling through the press, a couple of thoughts hit me. Thought Number 1 - Steve Gibson coming out and saying we've paid GBP 6m for Luke Young, only 1 year after we could have had him for GBP 2.5m. My thought was 'are we getting desperate'? It would certainly appear so at first glance - if we wanted him, why didn't we take him last year? His comments seem to have indicated that we would have been his first choice. The only logical answer is that he wasn't first choice. Thought Number 2 - If he's not our first choice, why get him now? Again, obvious answer is we're only just over a week away from the start of the season, and it really wouldn't be acceptable starting our 2nd season without a recognised RB.
