UNISON is urging members to get behind the campaign for a windfall tax on greedy energy and oil companies. General secretary Dave Prentis got the ball rolling this week, joining other community leaders from all four corners of the UK in signing a statement coordinated by Compass. It calls on the government to levy a "sensible, one-off windfall tax to guarantee social and environmental justice for all". "The time is right," said Mr Prentis, pointing out that rising fuel prices are affecting everyone, but it's the poorest who are paying the heaviest price.
