McAllister one off lead in S.C. Amateur

CLINTON -- Coastal Carolina rising sophomore Tripp McAllister of Lake City shot a 5-under-par 67 in Thursday's opening round of the South Carolina Amateur Championship and trails leader Will Oldham of Spartanburg by a shot on the 6,933-yard Musgrove Mill Golf Course. Patrick Lundy of Little River is among five players tied for third at 68, and CCU rising junior Sam Lyons of Little River is among six players tied for eighth at 69. Other CCU players in the field include Brandon Roach of Myrtle Beach (73), David Dannelly of Easley (73), Drew Ernst of Seneca (74) and Josh Jackson of Myrtle Beach (81). Drew Falvey of Murrells Inlet shot a 75, Conway native Brent Roof of Columbia shot a 76 and Tee Opperman of Pawleys Island shot a 78.
