The wife of France's president, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, has a No. 1 album on the French pop charts. Her album Comme si de rien n'etait (As if nothing had happened ) went on sale July 11. Only one week into its run, it has sprung ahead of Coldplay's Viva La Vida, to take the top spot in album sales, according to industry group Syndicat national de l'édition phonographique, which monitors French album sales. SNEP did not release the number of albums sold. It is the first album from the Italian-born pop star since she married President Nicolas Sarkozy after a whirlwind romance. French media obsessed with the presidential love life have been parsing her lyrics looking for references to Sarkozy.
