VANCOUVER — Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan is one of 10 Canadians invited to take part in the Paralympic Games Torch Relay being held Aug. 28 to Sept. 6 across China. Sullivan still has the special holder that allowed him to wave the Olympic flag from his wheelchair at the end of the Winter Games in Italy. He says it could be converted to help him carry the Olympic flame through the streets of Beijing when Canadian torchbearers complete their legs of the event as it wraps up Sept. 5 and 6. The Beijing Organizing Committee has asked the City of Vancouver to select four torchbearers, while 2010 Olympic co-host Whistler will send two and the Canadian Paralympic Committee will nominate the remaining four representatives from Canada.
