Associated Press - July 25, 2008 11:03 AM ET WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush has signed an executive order expanding sanctions against individual Zimbabweans and organizations associated with the regime of Robert Mugabe, which the U.S. considers illegitimate. The president is trying to send a strong message that the U.S. will not permit individuals closely linked to Mugabe to operate in U.S. financial markets. Bush says his action is a direct result of the Mugabe regime's continued politically motivated violence and the African leader's decision to disregard calls from the international community to stop attacks.
