The department has registered an average of 30 intellectual property rights violations per month this year, NLD President Mamoun Talhouni told The Jordan Times yesterday, adding that although overall piracy cases have not decreased from last year, the department has seen a significant drop in software piracy. "We have seen much fewer attempts to pirate software. Enforcement is an ongoing process and we aim to put an end to the practice," Talhouni said. The official added that two new department personnel are expected to be appointed soon, increasing the number of NLD officers to eight. With a larger staff, the department aims to increase field visits to cities outside of Amman such as Irbid, Madaba and Aqaba, he said.
