Epolitx reports that: The Conservatives have revealed plans to set up a working group to examine the development of links with the Ulster Unionists. If agreement is reached, a new party would be forged with UUP MPs taking the Tory whip and being offered posts in any future Conservative government. The deal will see the UUP's sole MP, Sylvia Hermon, join the Tory ranks, while any UUP gains at the next election could prove vital for the Conservatives in the result of a hung Parliament. In some ways, with the UUP only having one Member of Parliament and given the historical links between the parties this is not a particularly significant measure.
