What planet are that pair on?

IN the debate on the Lisbon Treaty I do not seem to be living on the same planet as your correspondents Catherine Cunningham and Dr Christine O'Malley (Letters, July 22). Catherine Cunningham complains about "the elite" and demands "the EU submit agreeable treaties and rewrite them again and again until it gets it right for the citizens". The Lisbon Treaty was negotiated over a period of seven years not by "the elite" but by the representatives of 27 democratically elected governments. How much more "agreeable" do you have to get? Dr Christine O'Malley cites Bruce Arnold's article of July 19 as articulating why she voted 'No'.
