Stewart Downing launches Art of Safety 2008

Jul 18 2008 by Simon Walton, Evening Gazette BORO winger Stewart Downing helped to kick off Teesside’s biggest art competition for kids. The England international launched Art of Safety 2008 - an annual Cleveland Police campaign which encourages children to think about safety. Schools and play schemes throughout Teesside will be visited by officers to discuss making communities safer. Children will then be invited to make a poster on the theme of “Feel Safe, Be Safe” and a calendar will be made of the best entries. Last year more than 10,000 children entered the competition and the winning entry was used as the force Christmas card.
