SANTA ANA, Calif. -- A Huntington Beach woman was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday in the death of her mother, who was stabbed more than four dozen times and dumped in Newport Harbor in 2006. Rachael Mullenix, now 19, faces 25 years to life in prison when she is sentenced Sept. 5. Her now-ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Ian Allen , is still awaiting trial in the case. The body of 56-year-old Barbara Mullenix (pictured) was found floating in the harbor on Sept. 13, 2006, with multiple stab wounds and a knife protruding from her eye. Her body had been wrapped in a blanket. After her mother's body was found, Rachael Mullenix could not be found. She was arrested two days later with her boyfriend in Lafayette , La.
