TORONTO -- Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk's effort to shake up Biovail Corp. is going into overtime after a judge ordered the drugmaker to reconvene its annual meeting for another vote on its founder's drive to replace the board of directors. Yesterday's decision by Ontario Superior Court Justice Herman Siegel came after Melnyk's lawyers argued last week that the June 25 meeting of shareholders proceeded illegally and the defeat of Melnyk's slate of board nominees was invalid. The judge ordered Biovail to reconvene the meeting within 90 days of the June 25 gathering, which would be by Sept. 23, meaning Biovail will not have to print and mail new proxy circulars.
