Sixth arrest in French student murders

Detectives investigating the horrific murder of two French students have arrested a sixth person, police said today. The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to perverting the course of justice in south London. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the man, who voluntarily attended a police station yesterday, was released on bail until August 25. Two men have already been remanded in custody over the deaths of Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez. The two 23-year-old biochemistry students were stabbed hundreds of times in a frenzied and prolonged attack at a rented bedsit in New Cross, south east London. Mr Bonomo and Mr Ferez were in the second year of Masters degrees at the Clermont-Ferrand Polytech in the Auvergne region of central France.
