Tobias Buck, Financial Times, July 7 , July 8, 2008 The seven Israeli soldiers patrolling the border fence with Lebanon drove straight into Hizbollah's trap. As the two Hummers approached their position, fighters from the Lebanese Shia group opened fire with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. One soldier was killed instantly, two were gunned down when they tried to escape their vehicle and two managed to escape into surrounding undergrowth. Ehud Goldwasser, the 31-year-old commander of the patrol, and Eldad Regev, 26, a reservist, were hauled from their Hummer and dragged across the border into Lebanon.
