IBD Editorials ^ | July 8, 2008 Western Culture: If we didn't know better, we'd say the news out of England suggests the British are hell-bent on killing their civilization. But, of course, we do know better — don't we? Last month, we lamented the emergence of "another sign that much of England has given up on being England." The cause of our grief were reports that Christian preachers in England had been warned by a police community support officer that trying to spread the gospel in a Muslim neighborhood is a hate crime. While it's shocking at how far the West will go to avoid offending Muslims, it's downright discouraging to see how weakly it defends its own culture.
